This is just crap, I don't know if it is Vodafone and Airtel are cheap for charing so much in India or Apple just charges them so they are forced to sell it at high price.
If you guys are Tech smart you might want to buy the iphone from grey market which is unlocked as this is just ridiculous price for 99$ (5000 Rs)phone to be 500$ (25000 Rs)

I have been waiting for the 3GS to hit India. Wanted to get the iPhone when it came out last year in India, but the exorbitant price put me off. Hoping this time around the operators sell it for a reasonable rate. Can't wait to dump my Samsung SGX 100 that I have been holding on to for too long. Though I have an iPod Touch with all the cool apps and games loaded, I'll be going for at least a 16G model of iPhone. If you have any friend in America tell him to buy a 3GS and tell him to get the unlocked phone from the service provider by saying that e'll be travellin to india so he needs to use sim in india. By saying this the service providers will provide an unlocked phone. Which he can give it to you here. And he can say that he lost the phone when hez in india and he'll get a new phone for him from the insurance thingie….
