The OS was first announced at mobile world congress on February 2009 .The 6.5 update is available for Windows mobile professional and Windows mobile standard devices .The major changes in Windows mobile 6.5 professional  is its full support of finger gestures. A stylus is essential for the smooth operation on current Windows mobile 6.1 devices . But the latest Windows mobile 6.5 includes applications and interface are more touch friendly . Native internet experience also seen an improvement with a redesigned version of pocket internet explorer .

As shown above Windows mobile 6.5 has a honey comb style menu design . The new interface looks really cool with Windows Vista like tabs and icons .You can rearrange the menu items . But unfortunately  drag and drop of  apps are not supported .There is an option move up or move down to pull the menus upward or downward . The home screen adds notifications of email , important events ,favorite and calender items with option to customize everything .

Pocket internet explorer in Windows mobile 6.5 renders web pages with higher accuracy and support for all latest web standards .The net Touch sensitive browser has buttons and other controls on its interface for a smooth navigation . The navigation and data input buttons will disappear when pages are zoomed .Windows mobile 6.5 comes with inbuilt integration to Microsoft Windows mobile market place .So you can directly purchase applications and download them directly over internet . The standard edition misses the touch features in Windows mobile 6.5 professional . Update will be available for all Windows mobile 6.1 phones with upgrade option on October of this year .
