Google and Android developer community announced the next generation Android OS 2.0 that will power upcoming smartphones. Recent studies showed that
Google Android will overtake many other smartphone operating systems including
iPhone,
Blackberry ,
Web OS ,
Intel moblin OS etc. and place itself just below Nokia Symbian by the end of 2012. Android OS also proved that its well suited for netbooks. The 7 month growth of Android is amazing. Now we have good number of mobile phones running Android OS , moderate number supporting carriers and plenty of applications . Coming to Android OS 2.0, it will be first available on
Motorola Droid and then in
Sony Ericsson Rachel releasing this November.

The most interesting feature of Android OS 2.0 is the free Google maps navigation in selected areas .
Android 2.0 supports Bluetooth version 2.1.
New Android global search function that can search the phone for everything from SMS, MMS, email messages, web, contacts etc. to calender entries.
Native webkit browser will support support HTML 5 and other new web standards.
Multiple screen resolutions possible.
Excellent text-to speech API on which we can expect good applications.
Android OS 2.0 features Microsoft Exchange support, making it a good
mobile OS that can handle corporate and business communication requirements. Redesigned message inbox can handle company mails, web mail, POP3 and IMAP accounts seamlessly .
Improvements in speed and camera quality.
Notable changes in virtual keyboard, dictionary and typing assistant.
Developers can use the latest Android APIs and code base to write new applications for upcoming Android 2.0 smartphones.
