Sony Ericsson yesterday added another member to their expanding portfolio of Android phones, by announcing Xperia X8. The new Xperia X8 comes after Xperia X10, Xperia X10 mini and Xperia X10 pro announced last year. The Sony Ericsson Xepria X8 has a size that fits in between Xperia X10 and X10 mini. Earlier known as Sony Ericsson Shakira, Xperia X10 has pretty old Android 1.6 OS with custom Sony Ericsson interface that is being used in other models. The Sony Ericsson UI widgets like TimeScape and MediaScape are also available with  Xperia X8.  This quadband GSM, 3G phone would be available at a very competitive price as per the initial reports.

HTC and AT&T in US announced HTC Aria, a premier Android handset for their customers in USA. The HTC Aria is based on Android OS 2.1 with custom HTC Sense UI over it. The device can be considered as the android counterpart of the HTC HD mini Windows mobile smartphone. The hardware specification of HTC Aria is almost related to HD mini. However,  the Android OS is something what here makes the whole thing different. Available with AT&T’s high speed 3G price plans, HTC Aria makes things easy for its users to stay on track with local weather, social media updates and numerous other services.

The Samsung Corby series is top selling entry level touch screen mobile range in India and several other world countries. However the touch and browsing in Samsung Corby not so impressive as you might think. Overall there was the need of a good mobile operating system. Today Samsung announced their first Corby series phone with Androd OS. The new Samsung i5500 Corby (Also known as Galaxy 5) packs latest Android 2.1 Eclair release and it is expected to get an upgrade to Froyo. Samsung Galaxy 5 has similar design and size of the very basic S3650 Corby, but the internal specifications are somewhat different.

Apple today launched iPhone 4, the fourth generation of the iPhone that uses recently announced iPhone OS 4.0. Earlier this year, a gadget blog called Gizmodo leaked iPhone 4 prototype, and they published the specifications of the iPhone 4. Today’s announcement has almost the same thing, but the name of the device is now confirmed as iPhone 4. The major features of the iPhone 4 include a new hardware design, 5MP main camera with HD video recording, highly improved display, 1GHZ apple A4 chip, new applications, improved battery life, gyroscope, and front facing camera for video calls. The device will be shipped with iPhone OS 4.0 (iOS 4.0) pre-installed.
