Global telecom giant Huawei today launched Hangout and Android series of mobile phones in India. Currently, Huawei sells handsets in India through their business partners. For instance, the Huawei U7510 is a 3G phone that is already available on BSNL network. As per the new plans, Huawei will sell mobile phones directly to the open market using their extensive retail chain. Huawei mobile devices will be designed for the mass segment, and the cost the devices are expected to be at the lower side. The handset maker has decided to make use of  QUALCOMM Brew OS and the Android OS.

HTC is planning to launch HTC Wildfire Android phone in India. The HTC Wildfire is a minimal version of HTC Desire, which also has design elements from the Nexus One from Google. Similar to HTC HD mini Windows mobile handset, the Wildfire is a low cost alternative for the original handset. Already available in UK and European countries, the HTC Wildfire is an HTC sense enabled Android phone with social media connectivity. The device is best suited for people in India looking for a mini version of Nexus One or Desire.

Apple finally released iOS 4.0.1 software update for iPhone 4, iPhone 3G S and iPhone 3G. The iOS 4.0.1 (build number 8A306 ) is a special iPhone only update that fixes the issues related with wireless reception. The official changelog indicate that the iOS 4.0.1 corrects the wrong formula, that is being used in iOS 4.0 to calculate the signal bar strength. Even though, iOS 4.0.1 will not fix the antenna reception issue, which is a part of the iPhone 4 hardware. Google and Android community is reportedly developing the upcoming versions of Android, the Android 2.3  Gingerbread and Android 3.0 Honeycomb.   The latest release of Android, 2.2 Froyo is already available for  Nexus one, and other manufacturers are in the process of updating their devices.  Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade will be available for all handsets and tablets meeting the hardware specification. Android OS 3.0 Honeycomb would be a tablet only operating system. Its is rumored that Google will release Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread SDK on November 2010.
