Motorola today announced a new tablet device named as Xoom. Last year we have a seen a boom of tablets; Apple iPad, Blackberry PlayBook and Samsung Galaxy tablet were the notable entrants in the market. Motorola Xoom is a tablet designed to work with Google’s Android OS. Many mobile phone manufacturers already have Android tablets, but most of them are based on Android OS 2.2 and 2.3 that are not tablet friendly. The Motorola Xoom will be shipped with Android OS 3.0 HoneyComb, which is exclusively designed to work with tablet devices. Motorola Xoom has a dual core processor and 10.2 inch capacitive touch screen that supports 1080p HD videos.
The T-mobile G1 by HTC was the first Android phone launched in the market. Things have changed much in the last two years. More than 10 companies are now making Android phones and around 200000 devices are activated per day. The T-mobile G2 announced today- is the second phone in the series which is a good upgrade from the existing model. The G2 is the first phone on T-mobile USA network with HSPA+, that is up-to 4G connectivity. Like its predecessor, T-mobile G2 also has the full QWERTY keypad. The screen is wider with the implementation of an optical trackpad. T-Mobile G2 will be shipped with latest Android 2.2 Froyo mobile operating system and will have the original Android interface.

After Droid and Droid X, Motorola today announced Motorola Droid 2, an upcoming Android smartphone for Verizon Wireless customers in USA. The Motorola Droid 2 is a CDMA handset designed to work with 2G CDMA 800 / 1900 and 3G CDMA2000 1xEV-DO networks. Powered by the latest Android 2.2 Froyo, the Motorola DROID 2 includes customized MotoBlur user interface. Motorola Droid 2 A9552 is far powerful than the original Droid and has an improved QWERTY keypad. However, the device specification shows that its inferior to the recently released Droid X. Motorola launched Motorola Milestone XT720 aka MOTOROI in Europe, India and other Asian counties. The Motorola Milestone XT720 is an Android 2.1 smartphone that includes an 8MP digital camera. It is also the first Android that comes with a Xenon Flash for the camera. Unlike other Motorola Android phones, Motorola Milestone XT720 doesn’t include the MotoBlur user interface. The device is somewhat similar to the original Motorola Milestone (Also Droid in US), but its doesn’t have the QWERTY keypad. The price range of the MILESTONE XT720 falls in the category of Nexus one, Samsung Galaxy S, HTC Desire, and the original Milestone.
We are hearing some good news. Google and Android community is reportedly developing the upcoming versions of Android, the Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Android 3.0 Honeycomb. The latest release of Android, 2.2 Froyo is already available for Nexus one, and other manufacturers are in the process of updating their devices. Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade will be available for all handsets and tablets meeting the hardware specification. Android OS 3.0 Honeycomb would be a tablet only operating system. Verizon Wireless in US and Motorola announced the upcoming availability of Droid X smartphone. The new Droid X be the successor of Motorola Droid (Also Milestone outside US) which is currently one of the most popular handsets of Verizon. Based on Android OS 2.1, the Droid X joins the league of HTC HD2 and HTC EVO 4G in terms of its screen size. Few months back Motorola released DEXT(CLIQ in US), their first Android device with a special widgetised user interface called the MOTOBLUR. Today they have announced another phone, the Motorola Backflip with same MOTOBLUR technology included. MOTOBLUR is shaped over Android OS to enhance corresponding mobile devices, more friendly with social networking and internet access. The same widget system has been employed in the new Motorola Backflip . The Mortola Backflip users can access web updates easily from the phone home screen with help of widgets. Motorola Backflip was in the news for the last few months. The device was earlier called the Motorola Motus. As the name indicates, this device comes with a reverse flip slider for including full QWERTY keypad. Motorola Backflip price and plans for US will be available by the first quarter of 2010.
