The original Samsung Galaxy S (I900) has an AMOLED display that is known for exceptional pixel depth, color saturation and battery life. Due to the shortage of AMOLED displays and price concerns in emerging South Asian markets, Samsung has launched a redesigned Galaxy S variant, Galaxy S LCD (I9003). The new model has a 4.0″ 480 x 800 pixels LCD display instead of the AMOLED in Galaxy S. The design and other specifications of the Galaxy S LCD are almost same as the Galaxy S. Galaxy S LCD is now available in India-in effect, the old model has been discontinued.
Samsung launched a new Android based handset Galaxy Ace in India. The Galaxy Ace is positioned in the medium price range where we already have the HTC Wildfire, LG Optimus One and some other affordable Android smartphones. When compared with mobile phones in same price range, Galaxy Ace differs mainly on the screen size (3.5″), processor and camera quality. Galaxy Ace has an external design that resembles Galaxy S, Samsung Star and iPhone 3G S.
Samsung galaxy S is considered as one of the most successful Android smartphone currently available in the market. Samsung today added another member to the Galaxy S family by announcing Samsung Galaxy S2 at MWC in Barcelona. The pictures and specifications of Samsung Galaxy S2 were leaked much before the official announcement. The device has a very thin external casing in which it holds a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED + display with 800 x 480 pixels resolution.
Samsung announced a new version of the Galaxy Tab at the MWC 2011 at Barcelona. The original Galaxy Tab was made on Android version 2.2, which not designed for tablets, but Samsung sold more than one million copies of the Galaxy Tab as per the initial estimates. The new Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a great improvement from the first one, both in the software and hardware side. As the name suggests, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, has a 10.1 inch XVGA capacitive touch screen with multi-touch input support. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be shipped with Android 3.0 HoneyComb OS.
Google announced the second smartphone in the Nexus series called the Nexus S. The first Google phone Nexus One was manufactured by HTC, and now the Nexus S is from Samsung. Nexus S is the fist mobile device to get the new Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread. Google and Samsung co-created Nexus S hardware in a close development phase, to include all features of the OS 2.3 in Nexus S, including NFC and others. Specifications of the Nexus S have some similarity with the hugely popular Samsung Galaxy S Smartphone. It is also the first smartphone to include a contour display that fits perfectly in the hand. Nexus S will be sold from Google’s selected online partners from December 16 2010 onwards.
Samsung Omnia is a high end smartphone range featuring mobile phones in Symbian, Windows mobile platforms. Samsung today announced an upgraded version of the Samsung Omnia for Windows with new Windows phone 7 operating system. The Samsung Omnia 7 or Samsung I8700 Omnia 7 features the Super AMOLED display the that we have seen in Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Wave smartphones. The Samsung Omnia 7 is therefore the best Windows phone 7 device announced today, in terms of the display quality. The bar shaped Samsung Omnia 7 has a 4.0 inch display with 16M colors color support, 480 x 800 pixels resolution and multi-touch input support. Like all other handsets in the category, Samsung Omnia shares the default Windows phone 7 interface.
So far, in this year we have seen Android tablets from Dell, ViewSonic, Archos, Toshiba and a few other companies. Samsung today joined the party by announcing the new portable web tablet called the Samsung P1000 Galaxy Tab. The Samsung Galaxy tab is a seven inch wide Android 2.2 Froyo based internet device, which is also a phone. As you might have heard, various models of Samsung Galaxy S smartphone have already sold more than one million units in US itself. Samsung except that they will sell around 10 million units of the Samsung Galaxy tab by next year. The Galaxy tab would be launched at a cheap price point to attract the mass market segment.
