Finally, MNP has become a reality in India.  MNP or Mobile Number portability let users to change mobile network without  changing their number. So those who kept their connection only for the sake of the number can now switch to a different operator of their choice. In India, Airtel is the largest mobile provider, and they manage around 30% of connections out of 650 million. New GSM providers like Tata Docomo, Uninor, Videocon, were waiting for the MNP launch to take  their subscriber base to the next level. Today MNP was launched in Haryana, and it will be available in other parts of the country by January 2011. BSNL and Tata Docomo has announced attractive offers and tariff plans for customers willing to switch to their network using MNP. The procedure, charges for MNP in India and offers from some operators are given below.

Popular mobile service provider of middle-east, Etisalat will soon launch services in India, under brand name Cheers Mobile. Etisalat Cheers mobile is the 14th mobile operator in India after Tata Docomo, Uninorand Videocon.  We  earlier reported  their association with  Amir Khan for 35 cores worth ambassadorship. Cheers mobile has pan India license for GSM services. Therefore, they will launch services in all telecom circles in India. The testing phase of Cheers GSM mobile network is live in several states. We are not sure about the official launch date of the service. However, it seems that everything is on the fast track for deployment before the end of April. Etisalat Cheers mobile will also participate in upcoming 3G auctions planned to be held on April 9. Cheers mobile will announce the best tariff rates including per second plans. Uninor tariff plans and launch date

After Tata DoCoMo, another international-desi mobile network Uninor is about to launch their services across 22 telecom circles in India. Uninor is the joint venture of Telenor Norway and UniTech Wireless in India. Telenor already have their footprints in our neighboring countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan. Uninor will concentrate on GSM and other related value added services in India. They are currently setting up their regional offices, network coverage, making tariff plans and tower sharing agreements etc. Reportedly, they have contract with Nokia Siemens Network for deploying next generation 2G network across all sanctioned telecom circles. We expect Uninor to launch their GSM service before the end of this year.
