I had a word here with the officials in Vodafone, who normally come to know the launch in advance. they said they have no idea on the launch date in sight.

Airtel and Vodafone are not giving out any information and it's just 10 days to the August 9th launch date that is being reported. So, I am not really sure if it will launch on Aug 9th. IMHO.. I think the launch might be towards the end of Aug.
As for the price.. The 32GB 3GS might be closer to the 40K price point. But Airtel/Vodafone might offer a discount of a few thousand rupees as they did with the 3G.
As of know it's just a wait & watch game for all of us.
Guys, i am in constant touch with Sales contact in Vodafone and Airtel. so surely will try to get an update. also i heard that the price of the 8Gb 3G model wil come down from 29k to nearly 24k once 3gs is launched. that too i think will be a good bargain.

Yes Parimal , the price of 8GB and 16GB model of original iPhone 3G is now reduced . But considering 32GB, 3.3 mega pixel camera and a faster processor ,I guess the price of iPhone 3 GS will be more than 35 K anyways .
