Android 3.0 Gingerbread

We are hearing some good news. Google and Android community is reportedly developing the upcoming version of Android, the Android 3.0 Gingerbread. The latest release Android 2.2 Froyo is already available for Nexus one, and other manufacturers are in the process of updating their devices. The Gingerbread, however, will impose certain compatibility restrictions on its use based on hardware features of the devices. The preliminary features of Android 3.0 Gingerbread show that it supports only the high-end smartphones.

Google Nexus One few other handsets will still work with new OS, but entry level Android phone will have to continue using versions up to Froyo. The Android 3.0 Gingerbread will support high resolution screens and processing units that could be used in tablets.

Android 3.0 Gingerbread features:

Minimum 1GHZ processor and 512MB RAM.

Supports screens of large size, pixel depth and HD resolution.

Fixed user interface: Just like in Windows phone 7, Android 3.0 will not allow custom UI like HTC Sense, Motorola , Sony Ericsson TimeScape, etc.

Android 3.0 Gingerbread supported devices.

Google Nexus One, HTC Desire, HTC EVO 4G, Motorola Droid, Droid X, Samsung Galaxy S and few other devices currently supports the above written hardware specifications. We can also expect community hacks to port the OS on unsupported devices.

Note: These are unofficial features. We will soon update this page more details.
