Microsoft chief Steve Ballmer announced the features of upcoming Windows mobile 7 OS at MWC Barcelona. The new OS platform will be known as Windows Phone 7 Series . Though started development much earlier, Microsoft Windows mobile hasn’t had major changes in recent years. The very recently announced Windows mobile 6.5 was also unimpressive in features. Android, Apple iOS , Symbian, Maemo etc. took this as advantage and implemented the latest technologies for mobile devices. That resulted in more and more applications in these platforms. And naturally people chose those phones than Windows mobile. The new Windows Phone 7 Series platform has been designed considering the requirements of modern life.

Intel and Nokia announced MeeGo OS partnership

MeeGo OS from Nokia and Intel

We all know Moblin and Maemo, Linux based open source operating systems supported by Intel and Nokia. Maemo is mainly used to develop user interfaces for mobile devices. Whereas the Moblin is used to power Intel atom based netbooks. Nokia already have successful phones like N900 running in Maemo. As per today announcement, Nokia and Intel will combine their efforts on Maemo and Moblin operating systems to develop a new OS called MeeGo. The MeeGo OS would be able to run on multiple devices netbooks, tablets, mobile devices etc.

Palm Pixi price and plans on Sprint

Palm and Sprint announced the next Web OS powered smartphone for its US customers . The first Web OS device Palm Pre gained good attention form public. Palm Pixi is slightly lower end phone when compered with its predecessor. Its visually longer and thinner. Major specifications of the device includes 2 mega pixel camera, inbuilt QWERTY keypad and selectable background covers like Dell Studio laptops. GSM versions of Palm Pre smartphone is now available in Europe . But still we don’t have any information on the official launch of the Palm Pre smartphone in India and other Asian countries. So its better not to make any assumptions on price of Palm Pixi in India. The US version of the device will be available from Sprint from this November 15 for US$ 99.99 with 2 year contract .

Windows 7 price in India upgrade and full version

Microsoft today launched Windows 7, the next generation operating system that will follow Windows Vista and Windows XP. Microsoft started beta testing of Windows 7 on the beginning of this year, which so far crossed 8 million in number of testers. Windows 7 has a new streamlined user interface, performance upgrades, touch support and couple of new features. As per Microsoft Windows 7 is not a major Windows upgrade, but tweaked version of Windows Vista that covers and fixes the disadvantage it had. More than 80% of beta testers agreed with this argument and they certified Windows 7 as the best Windows after Windows XP. Hardware requirements of Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit versions remains the same as in Windows Vista . On the software side , users can even run applications wrote for Windows XP using the XP mode . Confirming the global announcement , Microsoft India also came up with country specific price and versions of Windows 7 .

Palm Pixie announced

Palm announced Pixie, upcoming smartphone based on their new web OS platform that power Palm Pre .Plam Pre was released few months ago on Sprint with attractive package . Many people across the world including those who in India are waiting for the launch Plam Pre in their countries . While the speculation on this continues , Plam announced just another web OS phone for US customers on Sprint . New Palm Pixie (Pixi) is smaller in size and configuration when compared with Pre . The full qwerty keypad is not slidout , resulting in extra length of the device .There is a 2.6 inch capacitive touch screen that is smaller than in Palm Pre . Unlike in Palm Pre ,Pixie will only have a 2 mega pixel camera with flash. Plam Pixi will be available with customizable back ground covers similar to option in choosing Dell laptops in artist series. Zune HD price spec and launch date announced pre-order now

We earlier covered the expected price and specification of Zune HD , the upcoming version of Microsoft’s Zune series of music players .Zune player is Microsoft’s answer Apple iPod touch .The new Zune HD is capable of playing HD definition videos , surf web and stream music over WiFi ,playing HD radio ,storing more than 8000 songs etc .The price of the device is significantly smaller than corresponding iPod touch models . 16GB and 32GB models of Zune HD costs 220 and 290 USD respectively . Microsoft will globally launch Zune HD on September 15 of this year .The device is already for pre-order on Microsoft and Amazon stores.
