Samsung S8500 Wave

Samsung today announced first Bada based mobile device called S8500 Wave at MWC Spain. Bada is Samsung’s home grown operating system. The Bada in Korean stands for ocean. So that might be the ocean of features, applications, phones or whatever Samsung plans with its OS. Samsung has proved this with the very first Bada phone. Though, the application count may seem low at this point, the hardware specification of Wave is promising. Samsung Wave includes a new 3.3 inch AMOLD capacitive touch screen with 16M color support and 480 x 800 pixels resolution. Wave is one of the first device to include Bluetooth 3.0 that provides much faster data transfers. The device would be quite fast as it packs the new ARM 1GHZ processor.

Samsung Shark price and specification

Samsung these days introduce phones in series. We have seen the acceptance of this strategy through Smasung Star and Smasung Corby models. The latest among them is Samsung Shark series. The first three members of the family, Samsung S5350 Shark 1, Samsung S5550 Shark 2, Samsung S3550 Shark 3 were introduced today. Smasung Shark phones are designed to sell at lower price. However they are above average on specification side. One of the notable feature in Samsung Shark phone is the availability of secondary video camera. Both Smasung Shark1 and Smasung Shark 2 have 3G on board. Whereas Shark 3 is comparatively lower priced and without 3G. All devices are equipped with decent camera and storage facilities.

Phones in the Corby series are presently the most favored mobile models of Smasung electronics in India. Samsung launched the first Corby phone, S3653 Corby in last October. The fame of the first handset made them to go ahead with more devices in the Corby series. The colors and design of Samsung Corby placed it as a choice for youth and ladies. Samsung Corby is basically a low price touch screen phone. Currently there are 5 Samsung Corby phones in India. They are Samsung S365 Corby (the basic one), Samsung Corby Mate, Samsung CorbyPLUS (B3410), Samsung CorbyTXT and Samsung CorbyPRO. Samsung Bada mobile OS screenshots and features

We earlier covered Samsung’s plan to launch its own mobile operating system called Bada. Bada in Korean means Ocean. By this name Samsung projects the ultimate possibilities of its OS. They have already released the developer tools for Bada OS. Bada powered mobile devices will hit the market by the first quarter of 2010. Thereafter Samsung would drop the use of Windows mobile OS and Symbian OS from their smartphones to replace them with Bada OS. Today we got few screenshots of a Samsung device using the Bada OS. The interface of the OS looks like a combination of Nokia’s Symbian OS V5, Android OS and Samsung TouchWiz. Now the only question is about its supports on hardware and software development perspectives.

Samsung Lindy price and specifications

Samsung announced the availability of its new handset under the name M5650 Lindy. On hearing the name we feel like a totally different phone. But on seeing the pictures of the new Samsung Lindy, you will realize that Lindy is nothing but Samsung Corby with feature modifications. We have seen similar implementation in Samsung Star with the launch of Star WiFi. Guys at the head office of Samsung electronics are confusing customers by launching several touch phones each month. It might be a game plan from Samsung to create a virtual increase their market share. But Samsung is pretty successful with their recent touch phones like Star and Corby, both touched several millions in global sales. The launch of WiFi enabled Corby as Samsung Lindy would accelerate their growth in entry level touch segment. Another change in Samsung Lindy is the availability of high speed 3G at HSDPA standard. The 2MP camera in Samsung Corby has seen an upgrade to 3.15 MP autofocus with video recording.


WiFi and 3G are nowadays a common feature in phones with price around 200-215USD. 3G is not available at all locations, but with WiFi its possible to access internet and make connections when required. Samsung M5650 Lindy with its price will be yet another affordable touch phone, similar to S3650 and S3650W. Its 3 mega pixel snapper is the same one as seen on Samsung S5230 star, Samsung S5230W star, LG KP500 Cookie* and LG GD510 Pop*.

Lindy uses Smasung TouchWiz user interface. This user interface is very responsive in Lindy’s 2.8 inch capacitive touch screen. Dedicated music keys a new feature that is not available in Samsung Corby.

960 mAh battery, access to social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook etc., document viewer, music player, web browser, photo call, GPRS, EDGE and USB connectivity.

Samsung Lindy price in India and launch date :

The competitors of Samsung Lindy are 3G version of LG Cookie, Nokia 5230 Xpress music (GPS) , Nokia 5530 Xpress music(GPS) and Nokia 5235 music (GPS) phones. The advantage of Nokia phones is that there are lot of applications, smartphone features and availability of GPS at almost same price. As a promotional offer of the Portuguese telecom TMN, Smasung Lindy is now available for 221 US dollars in Portugal. But the price would be 236 US dollars when the promotion ends. So the approximate price of Smasung Lindy in India would be around 11000INR. There is no confirmation about the India launch date of the device. But we expect Lindy to hit Indian markets by January of 2010.

Samsung announced the upcoming availability of mobile devices in Diva series. As the name indicates, Samsung Diva targets ladies and others who takes their mobile phone as a symbol of fashion. There are two Diva phones, Samsung S7070 and Samsung S5150. Samsung Diva S7070 specifications are similar to that of entry level Samsung touch phones like Samsung Corby and Samsung Star. It has 2.8 inch touch screen, 3.15 mega pixel camera, Touchwiz UI and expandable memory. The other one, Samsung S5150 Diva is a folder phone without touch. The distinguished feature of S5150 diva is its impressive background 3D texture design that includes a hidden LED display. Other specifications include 3.15 mega pixel camera, 2.2 inch display, Bluetooth with A2DP, up to 8GB expandable memory etc.

Samsung announced Bada mobile OS

Samsung, the South Korean electronics giant announced that they are working on a new mobile operating system called Bada OS. Samsung currently manufactures mobile phones based on Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian, Limo Linux and few other platforms. The new Samsung Bada OS will be open source, and will have a user friendly interface and architecture that would help developers to write applications much easier. Bada in Korean means Ocean. This name indicates that possibility of the new operating system is limitless .
Samsung also announced that they will be stopping production of phones based on Symbian OS owned by Nokia and plans to reduce the number phones based on Windows mobile. Open source mobile OS platforms are getting popular day by day. Nokia also released some part of the Symbian kernel for open development . But it might be Samsung’s business strategy to make more phones on its on Bada OS platform . We expect the first series of Bada enabled phones to ship by the first quarter of next year. Screenhsots and features of Samsung Bada OS would be available soon.

Samsung Behold II price on T-Mobile and plans

Samsung and T-mobile are expected announce the availability of Samsung Behold 2 smartphone for its customers in USA. The specialty of Behold 2 is its completely redesign and shift in software platform to Google Android. Samsung Behold 2 will include Android OS 1.5 with Samsung TouchWiz UI over it . Samsung Behold will be the fourth Android phone from T-mobile after G1, MyTouch 3G and Motorola Cliq . Specifications of Behold II includes 3.2 inch AMOLED touch screen 5 mega pixel autofocus camera, GPS, upto 16GB expandable memory, WiFi etc. The exact details, retail price and plans of Behold II will be announced by Samsung and T-mobile at the scheduled press conference on November 12.

Samsung S5560 India price and specifications

Samsung will soon announce Samsung S5560 smartphone for India and other potential markets .Samsung S5560 has features and design that looks similar to Samsung Jet and recently released Samsung Corby . While Corby remains in the entry level, Samsung Jet targets upper class of touch segment. The new Samsung S5560 also includes a 5 mega pixel camera as just like in Jet, but it will not have 3G facility. Since many of the mobile networks in India and other parts of the world are still not equipped with 3G and as few customers require WLAN as an extra connectivity option, we guess its the right decision made by Samsung on specification of Samsung S5560.
