Increase mobile internet speed

We earlier covered few methods to access free GPRS from Airtel mobile in India. One of the main problems of GPRS internet is that it’s very slow. BSNL started 3G services in many states of the country. But rest of India relies on GPRS service for accessing mobile internet. The speed of mobile GPRS varies from 6 KB/sec and above based on network availability and plans chosen. Most time we won’t get the advertised mobile internet speed. One solution is to increase mobile internet speed use a mobile web browser like Opera that uses special compression technology to deliver web pages. Change mobile operator without changing number

Mobile operates brings new tariff plans and offers each day . But for a customer its not possible to switch between different mobile carriers for interesting plans and issues related to services . MNP( Mobile Number Portability ) is a service that helps the customer to change to their favorite mobile operator without changing phone number . Talks on implementation Mobile Number Portability in India began almost 2 years back . Now the service is almost ready to be rolled out . As per Department Of Telecom (DOT) , MNP service in India will be launched by the end of December in some selected cities and networks . Customers in supported network would be able to keep their mobile number moving to a new network . There will be small activation time and charge associated with this switching .

Nowadays its really tough to choose between mobile phones . There are several manufactures like Nokia ,Sony Ericsson ,RIM ,Samsung ,LG ,HTC making phones on Symbian,Windows mobile ,Android ,Web OS ,Linux and many other platforms . The competition turned everything to the customer side . Phones with good features are now available at low cost .Feature rich phones always needs to pay more , but there are few ones that are best in price and specifications . So here we have collected some aspects that are to considered while buying a new mobile phone .

Phone manufacturer : Currently Nokia is the world best sellers in mobile phones .They own the Symbian brand and part of many mobile developer networks They also offer extensive network of support and technical assistance. The best about Samsung and LG is that they offer more features with comparatively low cost.SonyEricsson phones are good for music and multimedia .If you are a businessman or ready to spend spend some extra bucks for brand name and quality , iPhone ,Windows mobile on HTC and Blackberry are great choices .

Phone OS : Symbian crowns the count for number of mobile softwares .Mac OS mobile and Windows mobile are good enough too . Google owned Android ,Palm web OS and Linux are the early-mid stages of development .So there is a difficulty in getting freeware applications in different areas .

Phone memory : Memory is essential for multitasking .Less memory results in slow performance and phone out of memory warnings .Phone memory is different from expandable one via memory cards .So choose your budget and buy mobile phones with best phone memory from the target category .

Phone Processor .Nokia phones usually use ARM processor . Others also sometimes uses ARM and its derivatives . The phone with more MHZ will do better .This also should be analyzed on budget wise .

Multimedia : Capability to include more external memory helps in carrying more music and movies on move . Music player / video player and the number of playable formats is another important concern .FM radio (with RDS is good) , FM transmitter or recorder . Image galleried and option to print is good if there .

Camera : Camera options includes front video call and back camera .Xenon (better) and LED Flash , Lens mega pixel and manufacturer , Focal length and Zoom ,image pixels ,photo editor,gallery application, and video recording in FPS ( more fps always good) .

Browser : Check if the browser is WAP or full web browser with support for HTML/xHTML . Flash for Youtube playback ,JavaScript (for normal web experience)and feed reader etc .

GPRS : Class 10 ,Class 32 : Most phones offer class 10 GPRS with 32-48 kbps .But some other phones offer class 32 GPRS with 64 or kbps . You can go for higher class GPRS phone if 3G and WiFi are not choices .

Connectivity and Navigation : 3G ,WiFi ,USB (check version for faster transfer) , Bluetooth ( with A2DP is better) , GPS , Infrared ( not usually needed) .

Battery : Battery backup is most important factor that everyone ignore while buying mobile phones . Check out the battery rating ,talk time and stand by time provided.

External build and appearance: Phone with metallic finish are durable (eg:LG shine ) . Hardened plastic will also do things to some extend . qwerty keypad ,quick access keys (for camera ,internet and gallery),form factor ,arrangement and quality and count of external speakers, quality of ear phones comes in this category .

Gmail Yahoo hotmail mailbox settings

An averagely priced Nokia mobile phone will be containing an email software for accessing Gmail , Yahoo ,Hotmail and other mailboxes . In some cases it can be retrieved from the mobile operator of the customer . Otherwise these mailbox settings should be manually entered to send and receive email messages .Here I am discussing mailbox settings for Gmail ,Yahoo,hotmail for of Nokia mobile devices .Others can use these settings in their perspective .

Before creating a mailbox setting in phone , we have provide IMAP and POP access in web based Gmail account .Open Gmail >options and move to forwarding and POP .

Here select enable POP and IMAP and save settings .

POP and IMAP should be enabled in Yahoo and Windows live hotmail for creating corresponding mailbox in mobile phones.

This settings will allow email clients like Outlook , Thunderbird , Symbian email client etc . to access and retrieve email messages from from Gmail, Yahoo and hotmail inbox .

Now we are going to create a mailbox in Nokia phone .

Open up messaging and select settings .

Now click on email settings and select to create a new mailbox .

Select mailbox type as IMAP or POP . Both settings are available in some devices .

Select POP access and enter the required Gmail address . Enter incoming mail server as POP.gmail.com and outgoing mail server as smtp.gmail.com .
Now select an access point and name your mailbox as Gmail .

Mailbox settings for Yahoo mail

Incoming mail server as pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing mail server as smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Mailbox settings for Hotmail .

Incoming mail server as pop3.live.com
Outgoing mail server as smtp.live.com

Recover memory card password from mobile phones .

Recently I wrote an article to recover deleted SMS from mobile phones . Here is another related one ,which deals with memory card password . We can use the same software that we used in the above case to recover memory card password from mobile phones .

Method 1 : Recover memory card password , using Fexplorer.

As I said, we need Fexplorer for this mobile hack .After installation , Browse to c:\system folder in your mobile phone . Here you would find a file mmcstore .This file is actually used to store memory card passwords in a mobile phone . Rename this file to mmcstore.txt and open with notepad . Now you will see the memory card password as it is ,exactly .

Method 2 :Unlock memory card passwords of Nokia Nseries and Eseries phones

The first hack to recover the password of memory cards will not work on Nokia Nseries and Nokia Eseries devices . Here we will use the remote lock feature for re-setting the password . For this , go to your pones settings >Security >Phone and SIM> and then allow Remote lock . The password of your remote lock will be the password of your memory card .So if you want to change the memory card password , just send an SMS containing your remote lock message .

Recover deleted SMS from mobile phones

Normally you can’t recover the deleted SMS from mobile phones . There are some mobile softwares that can recover these messages automatically .But most of these softwares are payed . So here I am posting an easy and free method to recover deleted SMS from a mobile phone .

I have personally tested this method and recovered few deleted SMS from my Nokia N73(S60 V30). And there are reports about this method working on N72 and s60 v2 mobile phones . .So I am sure that this method will work on Nokia mobile phones . Others can also give a try for this method .

For this you need a freeware mobile software called Fexplorer . It is used to explore the internal files and folders of a Symbian mobile phone .

After download , explore to to your phone memory(usually C) and select System and then mail .

Here you would see few folders like 00001001_S or similar ones.There should be some similar files inside these folders . These are actually the deleted SMS messages . Recovery software actually collects these messages . You can open these SMS by using notepad or other text viewing applications .

Download Fexplorer and recover deleted SMS from mobile phones .

Install run N-Gage games in N73 , N93 and unsupported mobile phones

N-Gage games are currently not available for Nokia N73 , N93 ,N75 ,N93i and other similar unsupported mobile phones . But in N-Gage’s website , they says that its soon available for these devices .I hope that N-gage would be added with the next firmware upgrade for N73 ,N93 and N75 .But for now ,you can use this method to install and run N-Gage games in unsupported devices .

N-Gage games needs a 270 degree rotation and extreme graphics capabilities .These features are currently not available on N73 and 93 . But two files included in this download would help you to run N-gage games in unsupported mobile phones .

I personally tested Asphalt game on my Nokia N73 and its almost working perfectly .And make sure that you have updated your Nokia N73 and N93 to the latest firmware available.

Receive Twitter updates by SMS free

Twitter is a free utility that connects its users through very small instant status messages . Other members can view these status messages on Twitter website , Instant messengers ,Desktop ,Internet applications and SMS. Out of these ,Official SMS and IM status updates services of Twitter are not available now . But now you can receive Twitter updates by SMS and that is free .Unfortunately Twitter free SMS status updates are only available to people from India .

Just name your SMS channel and give a description . In the next step , add your twitter feed in the feed section . Twitter SMS tweets and updates may delay and it depends on the traffic load on Google servers . And you may receive maximum of 50 updates/tweets per day .

Sign Install unsigned Symbian mobile softwares

Few months back , I wrote post on how to sign and install unsigned Symbian applications . Due to two three months of inactivity and increased requests from my friends here , now I am again dealing with this topic . Like any Windows software, as security measure , the mobile softwares should also be digitally signed to ensure that its safe to install on the target device . Digital signing should be done by software authors or by the users . And in most cases , a certificate is associated with genuine mobile softwares .

There are 3 different methods to sign and install unsigned Symbian softwares .

1. Turn of the certificate checking feature in your mobile phone .

Go to your mobile phones‘ applications app manager and open settings . From the settings tab , select to install all applications ,instead of signed applications . ( Valid only for Symbian and Nokia phones)

2. Install unsigned Symbian softwares using developer certificates from Symbian.com website .

Symbian.com is place for mobile software developers where they get their applications digitally signed . Here you can upload your applications and download the signed versions that can be directly installed . But for registering at Symbian.com website , users needs their own own email address , that is something like username@userdomain.com . They won’t accept Gmail , Yahoo and other normal email addresses .

3 .Sign and install mobile softwares using existing certificate and key file : The third method is uses a pre-created certificate and key file for local signing of unsigned Symbian mobile softwares . This method needs three things . A certificate file , key file and signing software(Signsis.exe) .

( SignSIS needs Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 that is to be downloaded separately )

If have a certificate and key file , as shown above, you can sign any Symbian mobile software using SignSIS . Use Password for key file as 00000 . Now if your want Certificate and key file for your phone , just subscribe to mobiclue.com’s feed and then post your IMEI number and mobile phone information in comment box .
