iOS 4.2 update

Apple today released iOS 4.2 (4.2.1) for iPhone 4, iPhone 3G S, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G, iPad Wi-Fi and iPad 3G models. The iOS 4.2.1 upgrade comes with several software level bug fixes and features like AirPlay, AirPrint, etc. Apple has also introduced a free MobileMe alternative for 4th generation iDevices through iOS 4.2. As promised, iOS 4.2.1 brings multi-tasking, folders, Unified Inbox, game center, and some other iOS 4.0 features in Apple iPad models. So this update is going to a huge one for the iPad owners. Right now many people are experiencing problems in connecting to the Apple servers through iTunes. This is obviously due to the simultaneous requests from millions of people. Apple introduced a new ebook reader application called iBooks in iOS 4.0. The iBooks app works in iPhone 4, 3G S, iPod Touch 4G, iPad and all other compatible iOS devices. It has a more user friendly interface than traditional iOS ebook apps like Stanza, Kindle, etc., and it comes with a real book like transition effects, inbuilt dictionary, fast scrolling and lots more features. Similar to the Amazon Kindle and the Sony Reader, the default format for ebooks in an iBooks library is ePUB, but it also supports PDF formats. The visual transitions and the inbuilt dictionary check facility in iBooks works only with books in the ePUB format. Other document formats like DOC, DOCX, RTF, TFT should be converted to the ePUB or at least PDF to get them work on iBooks for iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

iPhone 3G S hardware features

We earlier covered the features of new iPhone 3G S without the internal hardware information . As per latest news ,iPhone 3G S will include a 600 MHZ processor with 256 RAM . This configuration is definitely more than Samsung made 128MB ARM 418 MHZ chip in current iPhone models and would aid to speed and working performance .Meanwhile ,few blogs also reported that iPhone 3G S uses the same chip used in recently released Palm Pre .

Palm pre uses Samsung ARMv8 Cortex and PowerVR SGX graphics processor . Current version of iPhone also uses Samsung processor ,but the processing power is slightly smaller .There is also a chance for modified chip on the basis of ARM architecture combing the technology form PR semi who recently became a part of Apple . But these are all rumors , and the exact internal hardware features will be reveled before June 19 .Anyways we can expect a speed up in overall performance of iPhone 3G S than iPhone 3G .

Download Apple iPhone and iPod Firmware update 2.2

Apple has released an updated firmware for Apple iPhone 3G, iPhone 2G ,Apple iPod 1 & 2nd generation devices .Just like the last firmware update 2.2.1 , this update also contain few minor upgrades .Here I am providing you a direct link to download Apple iPhone and iPod Firmware update 2.2 .

You must have iTunes version 8 to install firmware 2.2 on Apple iPhone 3G and other devices .

Download iTunes .

After downloading iTunes , connect your iPhone/iPod to computer .
